Fire Audit cum Risk Assessment is a process involving the systematic evaluation of the factors that determine the hazard from fire, the likelihood that there will be a fire and the consequences if one were to occur. There are both qualitative and quantitative methods of risk assessment that can be used.

It is a schematic and critical evaluation of a premises and the activities carried on there for the purpose of determine the likelihood of a fire occurring and causing harm to people in and around the premises.

The purpose of a risk assessment is to determine what action you need to take to prevent a fire from occurring in your premises and equally to determine what action you need to take ensure the safety of people in and around your premises if a fire does occur. Therefore, the fire risk assessment should:

  • Identify all of the fire hazards in your premises
  • Identify all of the people at risk
  • Evaluate means of removing the hazards or of reducing the risks to an acceptable level if the hazards cannot be removed
